Odisha FC Rise to Second in Group B with a Commanding 3-0 Win over Celtic Queens FC

Odisha FC secured a vital 3-0 win against Celtic Queens FC in their Hero Indian Women's League Group B encounter at the Shahibaug Police Stadium. The victory helped them climb to the second spot in the table, taking advantage of the draw between Sethu and Kickstart. OFC rested many of their regular starters including Bala, Sweety, and Shreya.

The game started with a bang, as Faustina scored in just the third minute, giving Odisha FC an early lead. The Juggernauts continued their attacking style of play, and Faustina almost doubled their lead in the 10th minute but the effort went in vain.

In the 45+2’, Anju's quick feet set up Malati, who faked it and passed it to Bannya. The midfielder found the bottom corner, doubling Odisha FC's lead. The Juggernauts kept creating chances in the second half, with Lynda causing problems for the opposition after coming on as a substitute. She took a shot from a distance in the 62nd minute, but the keeper managed to keep it out.

In the 73rd minute, a corner for the Juggernauts resulted in Malati delivering the ball to Grace, whose header was kept out by three defenders on the goal line. Lynda continued to create trouble for the opposition, and in the 90+3 minute, She sealed the victory for Odisha FC with a goal of her own, capping off a fantastic performance by the team.

Although the quarter-finalists from the group have been decided, Odisha FC's rise to second place could prove significant in determining their draw for the next round. The Bhubaneswar team will play their last group stage match against Sethu Madurai FC at Transstadia on 13th May 2023 at 4:30 pm.
