Odisha FC ease past Bengaluru FC in a Thrilling Encounter
Odisha FC made the most of their home advantage with a commanding performance at the Kalinga Stadium, backed by an igniting crowd. The Kalinga Warriors showcased their dominance early, building a strong lead in the first half and maintaining control throughout the match.
The game began with Odisha FC asserting themselves early. In the 10th minute, Jerry Mawihmingthanga slotted in a close-range effort, capitalizing on a defensive lapse by Bengaluru FC. Minutes later, Odisha created another chance as Isak Vanlalruatfela’s shot from a difficult angle sailed over the bar following a cross from Jerry Mawia.
Odisha doubled their lead in the 27th minute when Mourtada Fall powered in a header from a corner, delivered by Ahmed Jahouh. The home side continued to pile pressure, and just before halftime, Diego Mauricio added a third with a stunning curling strike from the left side of the box in the 45+3rd minute, assisted by Jerry Lalrinzuala.
Bengaluru FC came out strong in the second half but Amrinder Singh denied Pedro Capo a goal with a fantastic save in the 47th minute. However, the visitors halved the deficit in the 52nd minute when Sunil Chhetri produced a trademark diving header, leaving Amrinder with no chance.
Odisha responded swiftly to maintain their lead. Diego Mauricio struck again in the 61st minute, smashing a right-footed shot into the top of the net, marking his second goal of the night and increasing the hosts' lead.
Bengaluru pressed hard in the final stages. In the 88th minute, Edgar Méndez headed in a cross from Roshan Singh, narrowing the gap. However, Odisha's defense held firm and Amrinder Singh made critical saves to ensure the victory.
