Amman, 25th August 2024 – Odisha FC has etched their name in history with a resounding 4-1 victory over Singapore's Lion City Sailors in their inaugural match of the AFC Women's Champions League 2024/25 Preliminary Stage. The win showcases Odisha's potential and sets them up nicely for the upcoming matches.

Played at the Prince Mohammed Stadium, the match was a thrilling encounter from the start. Odisha took an early lead in the 20th minute through an own goal from Neha's well-taken corner. Despite creating numerous chances, they were unable to extend their advantage before halftime, and Lion City Sailors capitalized on a defensive lapse to equalize in the 40th minute.

The second half witnessed a dominant performance from Odisha FC. Lynda Kom's brace in the 54th and 57th minutes put the Indian side firmly in control. Coach Crispin made a tactical substitution, bringing off Pyari Xaxa in the 63rd minute due to an ankle injury.

Lion City Sailors continued to push forward but were met with a solid defensive display from Odisha's Ibhrahim Maryam. The final nail in the coffin came in the 88th minute when Sailors conceded another own goal, sealing a comfortable 4-1 victory for Odisha FC.
