Odisha FC Women's Ready to Host Sethu FC in Their First Home Match of the IWL 2024-25 Season

After securing their first win of the IWL 2024-25 season, Odisha FC Women (OFCW) are set to host their first home game of the Indian Women’s League (IWL) 2024-25 at the Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar, on Tuesday, set to kickoff at 3:00 PM IST.

In their last outing, Odisha FC Women secured an impressive 2-0 win against HOPS FC at the Ambedkar Stadium, Delhi. After a tightly contested first half, Lynda Kom broke the deadlock in the 66th minute with a stunning strike. Jennifer Kankam doubled the lead in the 83rd minute to seal the victory. The team showcased their resilience and attacking flair, with Kashmina making a strong impact off the bench and Kajol D'Souza delivering a brilliant assist for Jennifer’s goal. Shreya Hooda led a round of solid saves, ensuring a well-earned clean sheet.

This win comes after a season-opening match draw against Gokulam Kerala and marks a positive trajectory for the team.

Sethu FC enter this fixture on the back of a 2-2 draw against Nita FA and a 1-0 victory over Sreebhumi FC. Having played their opening two matches at home, this will be their first away game of the season. Known for their attacking flair and a young, cohesive squad that has been together for several years, Sethu FC will undoubtedly pose a challenge.

Head Coach Crispin Chettri shared his thoughts on the January transfer window additions:
"Kashmina and Raziya are excellent players. Kashmina is still building her match fitness, but her impact in the last game was immense. Her presence made a noticeable difference in the last match. Raziya, on the other hand, is a long-term signing, and we believe she will integrate well and strengthen the squad further."

Coach Crispin acknowledged Sethu FC’s quality:  "They are a very interesting team with young players who have been together for two or three years. They are cohesive and strong, but we train well and I’ll make some tactical adjustments, as we do for every game."

Looking forward to the support of the Juggernauts, Coach Crispin said:  "Playing at home has its advantages and challenges. The pressure to win in front of the home crowd is real, but the energy the fans bring is unparalleled. I urge the Juggernauts to be our 12th man, just as you were last season. Your support makes all the difference."

With the first win and clean sheet secured, defender Eliane expressed the squad’s confidence ahead of the Sethu match: "The team is doing well, and we are confident going into this game. We are happy that we gained three points from the last match. Our focus is on securing three points and building momentum in this match."
