Odisha FC were beaten 3-2 by Basundhara Kings in the AFC Cup at Dhaka, Dorielton Gomes's second-half finish proving decisive.
Despite taking the lead through Diego Mauricio and Jerry Lalrinzuala's second-half strike, it was Basundhara who emerged victorious.
With the Kings avenging their opening game AFC Cup defeat against Maziya, Sergio Lobera's side couldn't find the vital equalizer and thus suffered a second consecutive loss in the AFC Cup.
Basundhara started the game strong as Amrinder was called straight into action early on by Dori. Against the run of play, Dinliana and Jerry's quick combination play put Diego through on goal who finished it with ease putting it beyond the keeper's reach and giving the visitors the lead in the 19th minute.
In the 32nd minute, the Kings came close to scoring but Dinliana stood tall and threw himself in front of the ball and cleared it off the line.
Basundhara captain Robinho drove with the ball inside the box and dinked it over to the middle to find Figueira who headed it in to level the scores. Right before the end of the first-half the hosts took the lead as Dori detached from his marker and headed in a cross from Rakib Hossain.
Roy Krishna and Jerry Lalrinzuala were brought in the second-half to add more potency to the attack. Fiji International Roy hit the woodwork twice after coming on but alas couldn't find the target.
Lalrinzuala reduced the deficit in the 66th minute to keep the visitors in the game. Puitea came close to scoring the equalizer but the keeper managed to keep things under control.
Amrinder made yet another big save at the other end denying Dori a hat-trick in the dying moments of the game.
