Odisha and Kerala share spoils in an end-to-end thriller

Odisha FC showed great resilience in fighting back from two goals down and salvaged a draw against visiting Kerala Blasters at the Kalinga Stadium on Thursday.

Going into the encounter with just one win from their first three previous matches, both teams began on strong footing, applying early pressure on each other’s defense. It was an end-to-end beginning with both teams getting chances early on, showing intent to take the game to the other.

Kerala Blasters struck first in the 18th minute when Noah Sadoui curled a beautiful effort into the far corner, assisted by Jesús Jiménez. The duo combined again just three minutes later, with Sadoui setting up Jiménez for a powerful finish to double Kerala's lead.

However, Odisha’s continued pressure finally bore fruit in the 29th minute. Jahouh, getting the ball back from Isak after a short corner, played it into the box only for it to bounce off Kerala keeper Sachin Suresh's hands and hit Kerala midfielder Alexandre Coeff before the ball crossed the goal line.

The equalizer came just seven minutes later, when Diego Mauricio’s smart shot from close range off Jerry Mawia's pass ended up in the goal, leaving the Blasters stunned.

The teams went into halftime all square, but there were no goals in the second half despite multiple chances at both ends. A thrilling encounter ended in a point each for Sergio Lobera and Mikael Lennart. Odisha head into the international break in the bottom half of the table with four points from as many games. FT: OFC 2-2 KBFC

With just one win from four, Odisha FC will turn their focus towards East Bengal, who are set to visit the Kalinga on Tuesday, 22nd October with the game set to kick-off at 7:30 pm IST.
