Ten-man Odisha FC salvage a point in Mumbai
Odisha FC and Mumbai City FC shared the spoils in a tense 1-1 draw at the Mumbai Football Arena on Sunday. The Kalinga Warriors started the game the stronger side, with Roy Krishna putting the eastern team ahead in the 14th minute after an error from Mumbai goalkeeper Lachenpa. Mumbai got back into the game when Nikolas Karelis scored the equaliser in the 23rd minute.
Odisha FC created a host of chances but couldn't convert them. However, Mumbai City found the momentum and kept on putting the pressure. Odisha FC captain Amrinder Singh was judged Player of the Match award for his outstanding series of saves that kept his team in the game.
The momentum swung Mumbai's way in the 80th minute, when Ahmed Jahouh was given his marching orders after receiving a second yellow for a mistimed challenge on Jon Toral. The 10-man Odisha FC held on for the final 10 minutes to salvage a draw and remain above Mumbai in the table.
The Kalinga Warriors will be on the road for the next game against NorthEast United FC at Guwahati on November 3, 2024, with kickoff at 5:00 PM IST.
